Tomas Alonso is a Spanish national. He holds a law degree from Spain and masters in law (LL.M) in Taxation from the University of Miami, the United States. He further holds a degree in Business Administration.
Tomas has worked in taxation since 1996. His previous professional experience includes working for firms such as Garrigues & Andersen in Spain. In Miami he worked for Arthur Andersen and Deloitte & Touche prior to joining Amicorp Group's Miami office in October 2004 as Managing Director.
Tomas has much experience in both inbound and outbound international tax planning, particularly with regard to American, European and Latin American structuring. He has advised both multinational corporate groups and individuals with various international tax issues such as entity classification, permanent establishments, source and characterization of income, withholding taxation, double income tax treaties, transfer pricing, foreign tax credits, outbound transfers, acquisitions and reorganizations, capital financing, and thin capitalization rules.
Tomas has written articles published in international tax publications. He is a member of the Madrid Bar Association and of the International Bar Association. He is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and also a Registered Trust and Step Practitioner (TEP).
Tomas speaks Spanish and English fluently.
