Ricardo Soto was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela. He completed his studies in Maracaibo, where he obtained a Degree in Economics from the University of Zulia in 1968. Later he completed studies of specialization in Management, Finance, Project Engineering, Banking, Insurance and Capital Market.

He started his professional career with the Shell Refinery in Venezuela in 1974. During the following 30 years Ricardo has held different positions as Manager, Vice-president and Promoter of several financial institutions, mainly as President of El Sol Financial Group and El Sol Insurance Company. He was a promoter of several real-estate developments in the State of Zulia, Venezuela, and President of Repicomca Telecomunicaciones since its inception.

In 1982 he moved to Miami, USA and returned to Caracas 1984 to contine his relationship with different Financial Institutions. He was appointed Director of the Division of Multilateral Organizations in the Ministry of Finance of Venezuela and in 1992 he moved to Aruba (Netherlands Antilles) as Managing Director of Midpacific Bank NV. Later on he returned to Caracas as Director of Incambios Valores, Stock Exchange House, until 2002.

Amongst other activities he stands out by his participation in different organizations, as acting or associate member. He was a Member of the Board of Directors and President of the Banking Association of Venezuela, Member of the Chamber of Companies of Telecommunications Services. He was also a member of Fedecámaras (a Management Association), and a member of the Association of Economists of Zulia as well as member of the Association of Economists of Caracas.

Ricardo joined Amicorp the beginning of 2007 to setup the Amicorp office in Barbados where he is the Managing Director of that office.

Ricardo has received different recognitions for his professionalism, among them the Order Francisco de Miranda in First Class.
