Mauricio is a Mexican national born in Mexico City. He holds a Law Degree (JD equivalent) from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), a Masters Degree in Law and Economics from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, a second Masters degree (MBA) from the Instituto Panamericano de Alta Dirección de Empresas (IPADE) in Mexico, a specialization Degree in Tax Law from Universidad Panamericana and a degree in International Taxation from Duke University and ITAM.
Mauricio has much experience working in taxation both for the government and for the private sector. His professional background includes employment with the Mexican Ministry of Finance (Secretaría de Hacienda); Deloitte and Touche Mexico (Senior Lawyer); and Solórzano Carvajal González y Perez Correa, S.C. (Associate Lawyer).
Mauricio has been a professor at both the undergraduate and the graduate level at ITAM, where he delivered lectures on Public Policy and Economic Analysis of the Law. He is the author of the book “Game Theory and Tax Evasion” published in Mexico in 2006 and the most recently published paper on “Game Theory and Minimum Taxes” which was included as part of a book on “Game Theory and Contemporary Law” published in Mexico in 2009. He is also the author of various articles and papers published on international taxation and has been a guest speaker in numerous events both in Mexico and abroad.
Mauricio is a permanent member of both the Mexican and the US Chapter of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) and the Latin American and Caribbean Law and Economics Association (ALACDE).
Mauricio joined Amicorp in 2005; in 2006 he was appointed as Managing Director of the Mexican Office and coordinator for the Groups Mexican market. As of September 2010 Mauricio has taken on the responsibility of setting up a new Amicorp office in San Diego – he be the Managing Director. During his professional career Mauricio has gained quite some experience with diverse taxation matters, international tax planning, inbound and outbound investment structuring, double income tax treaties, transfer pricing and tax litigation amongst others.
Mauricio speaks Spanish, English and French fluently.
