Manu Cheriyan, Chief Financial Officer
 
 
 
 
 
Manu is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a trained information systems auditor with more than 27 years of professional experience split between some of the world’s largest international accounting firms and industry. His extensive international experience includes positions in the Middle East, the UK, Tunisia and India.

He qualified professionally as a Chartered Accountant in 1982 after graduating with honors in Science from the University of Bombay in 1978. In 1987, he became one of the first professionals to pursue specialized training in information systems audit in the United Kingdom.

After starting his professional career as senior accounts officer at Bharat Petroleum Corporation (formerly Burmah Shell) in Mumbai, India, Manu joined Coopers & Lybrand in 1984. During the 7 years that he spent with the firm he rose to the level of controller and was engaged in audit and consultancy assignments for multinational companies, banks and contracting companies. During this period he was also in charge of the IT cell of the Oman office, which was recognized for being one of the first in the region to successfully run audit software on client systems.

Manu then joined an associate firm of Pannel Kerr Forster in the UAE where he was responsible for all technical and operational matters. In 1993, he took up the position of head of internal control of an offshore wholesale bank belonging to the Union de Banques Arabes et Françaises Banking group (UBAF) based in the Mediterranean city of Tunis. Here, he made significant contributions in the areas of MIS, letters of credit and internal audit.

In 1996, Manu returned to India to join Arthur Andersen as senior manager responsible for the South Indian practice in audit and business consultancy. In 1998, Manu moved to the diversified AVG Group of Companies, comprising several listed public companies and other entities with principal interests in the cultivation and manufacturing of tea and rubber on plantations across South India. As chief financial officer, his contributions ranged from re-engineering business and financial processes, lowering borrowing costs and restructuring group companies through divestments and redeployment of capital and capital restructuring, including open offers, rights issues and bonus issues.

In 2006, Manu joined Amicorp Group in Bangalore as Director and head of BPO Services and later became Managing Director and was on the Management Team of Amicorp Management India Private Limited.

In August 2011, Manu assumed the role of Chief Financial Officer of the Amicorp Group and is also a member of the Group’s Board of Directors.

Manu has been involved in technical training, both within organizations and outside. He has instructed on audit topics in Spain and has given lectures on information systems audit and practice considerations to groups of Chartered Accountants in India.
